Drug statistics in Borneo Sabah sees decline in drug abuse cases
KOTA KINABALU - The National Drug Agency stated that fewer drug addicts were detected in Sabah and six other states in the country last year. A total of 2,045 addicts were detected in Sabah throughout last year compared to 2,213 recorded in 2001. The 2001-2002 statistics provided by the agency also showed that an average of 170 addicts were detected monthly in Sabah last year. The last year's studies found that 38.46 per cent of the cases were addicted to heroin, 28.45 per cent on morphine, 21.52 per cent on cannabis, 6.53 per cent on syabu, 3.86 per cent on psychotropic pills, 1.01 per cent on codeine and 0.06 per cent on opium. |
